Okay so after talking to Alan, I've started putting together a new story plan. Rather than having the story take place over what would have been a few months to a year, it will take place in a day. I'm not great with figuring out time and we think this may have been what was causing issues in my story telling- so the story will still be similar and I won't be losing scenes that I really wanted to have, that I felt would keep the idea of: the bond. This takes me back to my first talk about what I wanted to make. The most important part of this film is friendship, almost like siblings, accepting a new member into a pack. This is the idea that I feel is important, the idea that inspires me through most of my favourite films.

A lot of my favourite films are films with creatures that are not humans. I find in myself that I prefer animals to people, therefore that is where I find my inspiration. In films like How To Train Your Dragon, Avatar, Bolt, Balto, Pans Labyrinth. These films all have things in common, accepting a difference/revolving around a bond/friendship. (Of course, I have a few other favourite movies that don't fall into this category!) This is what makes me want to go and make something around this subject, something I have experienced in my own pets- which makes it more special to me. A relatable story that can be interpreted by anybody.

So the idea, in a simple layout, is this:

We will meet Ryan (the older dog) asleep, in his dog bed.  He will wake up and move, this is when we meet Bella (the puppy). Who is excited to see him, while he is not so keen.
Ryan gets up and walks away from Bella, unamused, he goes out the door into the garden.
Bella excitedly wants to follow him, and crashes through the pet door, flopping half out of it at his feet. Ryan is still, unimpressed.

We then move on, Ryan is sat in the kitchen, he sits in front of his dog bowl, well behaved, barks once and he is fed. As he munches away slowly, Bella scrambles toward her own dog bowl and crashes into it, spilling her food everywhere. Ryan shakes his head to himself, (and picks up a piece of the food that rolled toward him.) he continues eating as Bella plays on her own, in her food.

The dogs are on a walk, we see Ryan sniffing things normally, running around off lead and picking berries off of bushes and dropping them into a basket. Then we see Bella (on lead) watching him from a distance, before running to bump into him and start smashing berries in her mouth- not quite getting the idea. She would be covered in juice and stain her fur purple, this would be the start of a turning point- as Ryan licks her head to get some of the juice off of her.

It's bed time, we see Ryan curled up on the sofa, sleeping under a humans arm maybe. Bella comes wandering into the room, she sits by the edge of the sofa, too small to try and jump up onto it. She looks up at Ryan with puppy dog eyes and whines slightly before laying down on the floor on her own. Ryan sees this, whines himself to get his owners attention and get Bella picked up and put onto the sofa, where she lays on her own before Ryan comes over to cuddle up with her.
[This ending has some options for me, Ryan could jump down and pick up Bella himself for example, or he could join her on the floor and cuddle up with her.]

This leaves room for tweaking and possibly another scene, but as it stands I feel it has potential.
