Reiniger mostly used the technique of paper cutting to create dimple silhouettes The most famous films Reiniger was a part of include; Papageno (1935) and The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926).
Reiniger was a huge influence on animated films as she was one of the first to discover what one could do with animation. MULTIPLANE CAMERA
Alongside being the early 'pioneer' of animation and a director, Reiniger also invented the multiplane camera in 1923! This is the filmmaking technique where sheets of glass are held between layers under a camera to give the illusion of depth. This then became the animation technique Disney used/reinvented, where layers could be easily manipulated while maintaining a background or other features. This was a fantastic invention for animation, and is still used today! This was used for the first animated film: The Adventures of Prince Achmed- which was overshone by Disney's Snow White (1937) which has now become a mix up of Disney taking rights for the first animated film, when really, it was Reiniger.
