These are my thumbnail sketches for Esmerelda!

This city was a challenge because I imagine it to be very beautiful and a lot like Venice. The complex details of multiple routes, bridges and stairways everywhere seemed overwhelming so I captured smaller areas within the city as I imagined it. I played around with perspective a bit and with this, I like number 9- however, I did struggle to capture the colours of the sky and water, so I continued sketching more roughly to get my ideas onto the page. I love the idea of bridges, and after studying the shapes of bridges in Italy (Venice) I wanted to stay true to their design- as seen in thumbnail 1. Next I would like to push my designs by considering and presenting how the cities will function.
