In this character design lesson, we started by focusing on the smaller details that make up an object, so I focused on the hinges and small parts that build up a victorian pocket watch- which I enjoyed doing, looking at objects close up is different from what we've done before.
We then looked at characters to go alongside the objects, rather than objects for the character- which was a lot of fun because we had some freedom to make choices with the story behind everything. I ended up going for the 17th century/victorian kind of vibe through my character. I wanted to make him appear evil through the use of the plague mask, a prop I really like.

We then moved on to caricatures! Which was really fun (though Louis may say otherwise), I felt that I really tapped into something when exaggerating features and playing with something in front of me. It's something I haven't had confidence in this type of art before and ended up really enjoying it and was pleased with the end result. (I even pushed myself a little further and completed a rough digital copy!)

Finally, we looked at our projects by starting to investigate the characters we're going to be working on this semester for our projects.
