I really enjoyed this project. The only thing I didn't enjoy was how rushed it felt, I would've loved to have had more time to perfect this world I created. I think there could be so much more detail and other things going on within the film- things could definitely be more refined and perfected- but where I landed on the final day was an pretty well polished version, especially for myself. I learned so many things about Maya and my understanding has come very, very far. I think if I were to do this all over again, I'd try and set more deadlines for myself, even though I did this, I didn't do very well at sticking to them at all- I really struggled with the time restraints. My standards and expectations of myself and my work have increased, now that I know more about my animation strengths and weaknesses. I'm also extremely pleased with how Chips turned out, he's 100% one of my most successful designs to date. I can safely say I've never had more fun with a character, drawing, doodling and building and bringing him to life in Maya, then animating small movements to really make him come alive. I can't name a more rewarding feeling than when I first stepped back to see my little fish walking along the screen with subtle movements to convince people he's alive and talking to them. I'm so pleased, this is something I've always wanted to do, and I've managed to enclose a very important message through the film as well. Despite the many Maya obstacles I faced throughout the making of the film, I never gave up because I so desperately wanted to see the film come to life and be able to portray what I saw in my head, I'd say it went fairly well overall. My 2D elements could be stronger, which I will come back to over the summer, and I would like to bulk out the film with a few more background animations, fish going past or bottles floating by. There are 101 things I could add to the film or change, tweak or re-do. But even so, this is something I have always wanted to do and never dreamed I'd really be able to do it, with confidence within a few months. Overall? I enjoyed it, and am pleased with the result, even though it will be reworked slightly for Claire to use, I am happy to do this. (... but maybe in a weeks time when Maya doesn't make me feel sick anymore).
